W’daeb Awaewe (Ojibwe: truth as we know it) Training
Indigenous & Non-Indigenous Historical (half-day) & Current Time-Line (half-day)
This course provide insight from an Indigenous perspective on historical events between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada. Before reconciliation there must be truth. A focus on the initial relationship with peace and friendship treaties, Indian Act legislation impacts and the road to self-determination and healing is shared. This safe and interactive training course provides participants factual timeline information and promotes understanding of Indigenous culture, reconciliation and the spirit of inclusion.
Moving towards the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation means knowing the current realities faced between Indigenous and non-Indigenous relationships. Changes to the Indian Act, changes to the legal framework of our relationship and understanding the spirit and intent of treaties is part of our new reality as people sharing life and land together. Self-determination and healing as a pathway to awareness of the principles of the modern treaties. Land claims, current changes in leadership and forging the new relationships through the circle of courage is shared in this training. he spirit of inclusion.

Cultural Competency / Cultural Humility (half-day) Traditions & Culture (half-day)
Welcome to the Wahkohtowin Indigenous cultural competency workshop. This full-day workshop will provide a safe learning environment for participants to have more awareness of Indigenous related topics and build skills to support our ability to work and learn from one and another as nations sharing the land together. The course will offer insight from both an academic and Indigenous perspectives on: stereotypes, discrimination, systemic barriers, cultural humility development, ally behaviour and Indigenous worldview awareness. Topics will be presented through a variety of mediums and interactive exercises. Strong Heart Consultation welcomes you to this opportunity of learning and trusts this workshop will play a role for our collective movement to self-empowerment and reconciliation.
Manachihiwenik (Cree – In a respectful way)
Working with Indigenous men in the justice system
This half day workshop is an interactive session which will review articles related to Indigenous people in the justice system. Open break-out discussion about the articles of changes within the justice system of the over representation of Indigenous people is the focus of this training. It is recommended that a half-day time-line W’daeb Awaewe Training be a prerequisite to this training.
All My Relations
Culture and Traditions Sharing (half-day)
This half-day session will share base-knowledge cultural awareness on Indigenous Worldview, ways of life, medicines, traditions and ceremonies. All My Relations is based on learning how to prepare ones self to respectfully participate within traditional ceremonies and/or when beginning respectful relationships within Indigenous cultural events/gatherings. The approach of sharing culture and traditions training will depend on the accommodations provided. Careful attention to cultural humility is shared for this presentation as knowledge does not mean wisdom. Wisdom comes with time, patience and the movement for colonial thinking to Indigenous worldview understanding.
